Two Green Bottles...

I went on a refresher course on advance resuscitation today and it was amazing to see what doctors go through on a daily basis! It was pretty cool directing teams of nurses what to do in the effort to keep people alive. The experience was illuminating because it just drives home the fact that the medical field is not a one-man show. Everyone automatically focuses on their specialty at the expense of everything else. My automatic response was to look at the PVC feet of Angus the dummy and diagose them (He had daylight signs and was likely to have Rheuamtoid Arthritis, possible diffuse callous formation exacerbated by Converse type shoes). I learnt how to read ECGs, what drugs to pump into people and all those things that first year medical students must think is child's play. Basic life support is important. I work alone in an isolated area with no supporting staff in close proximity, and am a great risk to myself and my patients if there is no one who is able to provide fast response to medical emergencies.
Which brings me to the point of this post today. I was too busy having fun resucitating dummies that I didn't get the mass resignation memo. It is official, there are now two green bottles, sitting on the wall. And this particular green bottle is seriously contemplating moving off this particular wall.

I have to throw down some cushions first.

Hi. I heard about the mass resignation through Osbert. It must have been tough. Is it a O.M.O. (one man operation) now for your department? Anyway, all the best for whatever that comes! Take care.
